Asia Pacific region names vice president of Public Relations and Communications

August 15, 2015

Joanna Ong, a public relations professional with nearly two decades of experience, has been promoted to vice president, Public Relations and Communications, Asia Pacific, effective immediately. The announcement was made by Thorsten Kirschke, president, Asia Pacific, Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group. Joanna, who was formerly director of Public Relations and Communications, will report directly to Thorsten and serve on the Asia Pacific Executive Committee.

“I firmly believe that through the efforts of Jo and her team, our communications strategy of demonstrating our value as a hotel management company and reaffirming our commitment to be a sustainable, successful business is instrumental to the continued momentum success of Asia Pacific,” said Thorsten.

Joanna joined Carlson Rezidor in 2011 and, since her arrival, has successfully established a more effective and efficient public relations infrastructure and communications framework for the Asia Pacific region, which increased brand awareness and brought about a positive shift in perception of Carlson Rezidor and our hotel brands.

Of her 18 years of corporate and brand communications experience, Joanna spent more than half of that time in the hospitality industry, overseeing the Asia Pacific communications functions at international hotel groups. As an entrepreneur, she has owned and managed a public relations consultancy, providing strategic communications counsel to hotel groups and luxury brands. Her agency experience includes positions and leading international public relations firms of Burson Marsteller and Ogilvy. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in communications and literature from Murdoch University in Australia. Please join us in congratulating Joanna on her promotion.
